Fluff Turns Twelve

I don't know her exact birthdate, but I celebrate Fluff's birthday on December 22. Give or take a month, it's about right.

This is Fluff at about 3 years old, maybe 4.
Fluff during an agility run. Fast, responsive to her handler, but not always tolerant of handler error.

One of my favorite pictures of Fluff. "You want this stick? It's a really good stick. You know you want it. Catch me, and we'll talk!"

Fluff at the Washington coast. She loves retrieving from water. I think she's about 8 or 9 in this picture.

My best girl. Looks, personality, and a whole lot of love. Thanks, sweetheart.

You have a good eye, Mrs. G. That photo was done by a professional. I took the others.

Wow, you do agility Fluff? My mom keeps saying she is going to take me to agility classes. Is it fun for you? How long did it take you to learn?

Rusty,

Fluff was handicapped because her mom had no clue how to teach her agility! There are a lot more good books, videos and trainers out there now. Look for someone who is willing to listen to your mom's goals. Does she want to play around with it or is she competitive? That can make a difference on what trainer you choose. As a little dog, you might want to look into Teacup Agility. All the equipment is scaled down to be more appropriate to the smaller dogs. Search for "TDAA agility" will probably find it for you.

Since you are an adult and already know how to learn, you might be ready to compete in a year or so. Some of it depends on what you can do outside of class.

You and your mom might also want to look into canine musical freestyle. You get to train a lot of cute tricks, and you can use freestyle either to entertain friends or to compete.
